Job Description

The Senior Developer, working with the Director of Business Analytics and other members of Data and Analytics (D&A) team, will help design, develop, and implement a variety of data driven applications for CSAC-EIA. These applications will improve information access throughout the organization and provide improved information products to the EIA membership. The Senior Developer will be involved in many D&A activities which include the integration of claims, exposure, membership, and program data; development of dashboards, reports, analysis, and benchmarking tools for the EIA membership; creation of tools for Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, and Risk Control; and improving program management reporting.

The Senior Developer position has the following primary responsibilities:

• Modeling current business processes and data requirements.
• Designing and developing database objects and components needed to support reporting and analysis activities.
• Integrating various data sources into accessible information repositories.
• Automating existing processes and procedures using a variety of database tools and technologies.
• Developing processes and procedures to process, verify, analyze, and report data.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have a degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or Mathematics and two to five years of progressive experience developing databases, reports, and/or data driven applications. Experience in the insurance or risk management field is beneficial. We are looking for an individual with the following skills and abilities:

• Energetic self-starter with the capacity to independently manage responsibilities, tasks, and goals.
• Creative, and capable of looking at new and different approaches to solving problems and resolving issues.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical customers and staff.
• An in depth knowledge of SQL and preferably experience with T-SQL.
• An understanding of database modeling with some development experience in SQL Server, preferably in reporting and analysis, or data warehousing.
• Experience with ETL tools and techniques and reporting and analysis software.
• Experience in insurance, risk management, and/or claims management.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $6,661 to $9,658 per month. The full salary range for this position is listed to provide information on earning potential; the hiring salary is based on skills, knowledge, ability and experience. EIA employees do not pay into Social Security except for the Medicare portion of the cost.

Physical Requirements

Physical requirements of this position typically include: sitting for long periods of time, reaching, grasping, kneeling, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid State of California Driver’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, or the ability to obtain one within the first month of employment. Proof of auto insurance with no exclusion for business use is required.
