Overview

In December 2019, PRISM staff and Ken Maiolini coordinated a meeting in the PRISM offices for members to discuss questions/concerns that they had at that time with jail medical services provider CFMG/WellPath.  One of the main concerns that was raised is that other than CFMG very few, if any, other companies respond to RFPs for jail medical services.  Accordingly, PRISM staff and Mr. Maiolini were asked to research possible competitive alternatives that might exist in the marketplace.  Thus far, we have identified one company that is interested in the possibility of expanding to provide jail medical services in California.  The company is called Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc.  Their website is https://www.advancedch.com/  Currently, they have over 300 contracts with public entities in the Midwest.  They have been growing over the last few years expanding their geographic range.  Staff and Mr. Maiolini have spoken with ACH’s leadership team on a couple of occasions about the opportunities that exist here in California.  They are interested in exploring the possibility of expanding out here so we are setting up a web-based meeting to provide them with an opportunity to introduce the organization to the Medical Malpractice Program membership and for members to ask questions. 

We would encourage any members who are interested in attending this meeting to also extend the invitation to their entity’s relevant risk management, correctional, and county counsel/entity attorney personnel.  There is no limit to the number of people your entity can have register and this will be a great opportunity for jail staff to ask questions about what ACH does regarding care, training, etc and for risk management and county counsel to ask questions regarding contract/insurance issues.
