Public entity HR and risk professionals are tasked with making decisions on a daily basis for a variety of challenging developments caused by the ongoing spread of COVID 19 in every corner of the state.   This webcast will be completely scenario driven. We will use a set of realistic and practical scenarios, informed by current public health orders, foreseeable ebbs and flows with the spread of COVID 19 in many counties, and our ongoing hotline experience for all types of public entities in every corner of the state.

The webcast will guide you step by step through exactly what to do and how to document your decisions and actions. For those members who have yet to experience one of these issues, we will provide concrete and concise advice on strategies to prepare for foreseeable situations.

In particular, we will address the following common and foreseeable scenarios and provide concise and concrete guidance on what to do when any of the following occur: 

WHAT DO WE DO WHEN….  

  1. An employee who has been working onsite at your facility tests positive for COVID 19; 
  2. An employee reports that she or he has been directly exposed to a person with a confirmed positive test for COVID 19; 
  3. An employee reports that she or he has a family member with a direct exposure to a COVID 19 positive individual, but has no symptoms and cannot be tested; 
  4. An employee who previously tested positive seeks to return to work; 
  5. An employee with symptoms of COVID 19 asks to return to work without having had a test result – positive or negative; 
  6. An employee gets sick with COVID 19 symptoms while at work; 
  7. An employee self-reports the existence of COVID 19 symptoms and does not come to work; 
  8. An employee comes to work with symptoms and does not self-report; 
  9. An employee has a family member with COVID 19 symptoms and does not self-report; 
  10. An employee reports that co-workers or their family members have symptoms, but refuse to stay home; 
  11. An employee with visible symptoms of COVID 19 insists the symptoms are unrelated to COVID 19 
  12. An employee has medical verification requiring remote work, but the job duties cannot be performed remotely;
  13. An employee has medical verification requiring remote work, and there are job duties that can be performed remotely, but the employee is unqualified to perform capably; 
  14. An employee asks for ergonomic workstation for long term telework accommodation; 
  15. An employee asks to work at home due to fear of returning to the workplace; 
  16. An employee complains about a lack of PPE, or inconsistency in enforcing safety protocols; 
  17. An employee insists that everyone in the facility or department consistently wear face covers; 
  18. An employee refuses to wear face coverings; 
  19. An employee belittles or harasses co-workers due to face coverings or other safety protocols; 
  20. You need to discipline an employee for refusing a directive regarding COVID 19 safety protocols; 
  21. Co-workers express discomfort working around an employee who previously tested positive and was cleared to return to work; 
  22. Co-workers express fear of working in a particular building due to their view that safety protocols are not being enforced; 
  23. Employees who already exhausted their FFCRA for childcare emergencies now cannot report for duty in the new school year, due to new childcare emergency. 
  24. Employees who already exhausted their FFCRA for quarantine or COVID 19 high risk conditions cannot report for duty and telework is not an option. 
  25. The department or entity has more employees who need to perform telework or distance learning than available remote work assignments. 
  26. An employee who did not perform telework duties competently during the statewide shelter in place demands to continue performing remote work duties.
