ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general direction, to plan, organize, coordinate, and administer Shasta County Child Support Agency programs and services; to supervise the management of staff and program operations; to oversee the preparation and administration of the department's budget, and to perform related duties as required.

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

This position directs the administrative, operational, and legal activities of the department; establishes departmental goals and evaluates program efficiencies and outcomes; formulates policies and procedures for the administration of the department in accordance with direction from the Shasta County Board of Supervisors and the County Administrative Officer; analyzes and oversees the implementation of changes in laws, regulations, and procedures affecting the child support program; interprets and explains laws, rules, and regulations of the child support program to management staff, the public and other concerned parties; establishes and directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of office policies, procedures, and work production standards; conducts and participates in governmental task forces and committees involved in developing, analyzing, and improving child support laws, regulations, procedures, services, and activities; conducts and represents the County in activities and meetings with other governmental entities and community groups regarding child support matters; coordinates and directs the work assignments of staff; oversees preparation of the operating budget for the department; oversees the development and maintenance of complex automated case management and accounting systems; confers with the administrative, fiscal, and personnel staff of other County offices; reviews financial and statistical reports, and takes appropriate action when necessary; acts as the hiring authority for staff; provides and coordinates staff training; prepares reports and makes presentations to the Board of Supervisors, committees, and other groups as appropriate; and performs other duties as necessary.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate will be an experienced executive who has worked for, or with, county, state, and federal agencies, preferably in the Child Support Program or closely-related social service field; have excellent interpersonal skills; have a proven record of building mutually-respectful relationships with county and state leaders; be able to meet federal and state performance standards while providing fair and exceptional customer success to a diverse population; have experience at building cohesive and collaborative teams; and welcomes diversity in the workplace. The Ideal Candidate will have a good sense of humor, strong work ethic, and the ability to make decisions and changes quickly. The ideal candidate will be willing to travel to and participate in association, committee and state meetings, as well as facilitate and lead trainings, workshops, and committees.
