EIA’s Legislative Involvement on Behalf of Our Members
The EIA’s Legislative Committee is following 78 bills that are currently proposed in the California State Legislature. The bills are grouped by the EIA into five subject matter categories: employee benefits, healthcare, liability, workers’ compensation, and workplace safety. Of the 78 bills, the EIA’s Legislative Committee has taken an “oppose” position on 11 bills, a “support” position on 12 bills, and is watching 55 bills. Depending on how important the bill is, or how strongly the committee opposes/supports it, letters are written to legislators on behalf of the EIA. The Committee works with partners from other public entities and our lobbyists to promote the interests of the EIA and its members.
If you are interested in which bills the EIA has taken a position on, a newly designed Bills of Interest page is now available on the EIA website. Sort by category, bill number, author, or the EIA’s position. If you have questions about the EIA’s legislative activity or the Committee, contact Mike Pott.
New Checkpoint System Available
The EIA and TimeKeeping Systems are proud to announce discounted rates for Guard1, a new partner program available to EIA Members! Guard1 is a comprehensive automated check in system that will allow members with correctional facilities, or security to electronically log check-in points, with timestamps on their routes to provide documented proof that routes were completed. This system has been successful in defending correctional staff in administrative hearings and civil litigation. If you’re interested contact us today.
