Education Connection

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
April's Education Forum
We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all of you that attended our annual Education Forum! Based on your feedback, the topic was timely and there were several deliverables to help improve your emergency operation plans.

Our favorite quote was, “If Cal/OES is planning for a disaster in your area, so should you.”

Next year, the forum will be held toward the beginning of the calendar year, and we welcome your suggestions for topics. With your input, we can make this event even more valuable in 2019.
AB-699: Guidelines Now Available to Develop Undocumented Student Policies
AB-699 was passed last October and amended Sections 200, 220, and 234.1 of the Education Code. It mandates schools limit their assistance with immigration enforcement based on guidance provided by Attorney General Xavier Becerra. Read an overview of AB-699 and how it impacts your district.
Preventing Sexual Abuse
Unfortunately, sexual abuse occurs all too frequently, and we must be diligent in our efforts to prevent this from happening in our schools.

Instead of merely reporting it after-the-fact, prevention should be our goal. Diane Cranley recently completed the last segment in her 7-part series to prevent child sexual abuse. It is a tough topic to address, but loco parentis demands that we do everything possible to stop our students from being sexual abused while in our care.

Diane Cranley’s series can be found on EIAtv.
