Education Forum is Back!
In an effort to connect with our education members, the EIA is conducting its annual Northern/ Southern California Education Forum. This year Lynne Olson, Senior Emergency Services Coordinator with the CA Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, will discuss Emergency Preparedness and Operations for school sites. We will also have Ashlee Marinello, Account Manager with TargetSolutions presenting information on newly created courses and enhancements to the existing the existing course catalog specific to our education members.

CDE to Begin New Audits of Comprehensive School Safety Plans
As you well know, local school districts must approve their schools’ comprehensive safety plans by March 1st of every year. Last week, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson issued a news release stating that the California Department of Education is taking a new step to help ensure student safety. Beginning in the 2018–19 school year, comprehensive school safety plans will be reviewed during annual audits currently required by Education Code (EC) Section 41020. Read more on the EIA blog

Maintaining Professional Staff/Student Boundaries: Reviews how to maintain a professional and ethical relationship with students that fosters an effective and safe learning environment.
 
California Integrated Pest Management: Outlines how to successfully implement an IPM program in your school.
 
Preventing Sexual Harassment – Students: This course provides an overview of sexual harassment issues that involve students—issues that you might encounter in your own school.
 
Title IX and Sexual Misconduct for K – 12: This course will help you to develop the expertise you need fulfill the requirements of Title IX in a K through 12 setting, and recognize when its provisions are not being adhered to.
