HR's Role in Cybersecurity: How to Prevent Data Breaches and Minimize the Impact if Sensitive Information is Compromised

Overview

While this webcast is open to all EIA members, some of the Eyres Law Group Services are only available to members of the PWC and/or GL1 programs.

Cybersecurity has become a hot topic. The media has focused on high profile data security breaches involving consumers at major retail and insurance companies and these stories have dominated the news. For employers, it isn’t limited to leaks of embarrassing email messages. The HR nightmare is deliberate or accidental data breaches of personnel records, many containing identifiable personal data.

No organization is immune to external hacks or unauthorized internal intrusions into highly sensitive data. Data security is absolutely critical. HR plays a fundamental role in minimizing the risk of data security breaches. Employees and managers should know that security is everybody’s business. Partnering with your IT professionals about current and emerging data security threats to your public entity’s sensitive data is essential to prevent the inevitable threats and mitigate the potential for a catastrophic confidentiality breach.
