The U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) has released a new version of the Form I-9 dated 11/14/2016. As of January 22, everyone should be using the revised version of the form.

Form I-9 is used to verify the identity and employment eligibility of every new employee hired after November 6, 1986. Employers are responsible for ensuring this form is completed (by both the employee and employer) for each person they hire. The document must be retained for either 3 years after the date of hire or for one year after employment is terminated, whichever is later.

Prior versions of the form are no longer valid.

USCIS is offering free webinar’s regarding the updated document.
