The First 30 Minutes

Overview

In today’s mixed-media news environment, a high profile incident, controversy or situation breaks farther and faster than ever. Driven by citizen journalists armed with cell phone cameras and social media apps, your crisis gets defined and broadcast worldwide in real time on the Instantaneous Internet. Is your communication plan ready to react and respond within the first thirty minutes? If not, the issues will already be framed for the public and then rumors, images, and misinformation will start to embed. Your reputation is at stake. Will the first thing out of your mouth be the worst thing out of your mouth? Who speaks for your organization? What can or should they say?  Lessons learned working on behalf of public schools will be applied by Mr. DeLapp to other local public agencies.

In this webinar, communications expert Tom DeLapp will share 40 years of experience in handling hundreds of emergencies and crisis for school districts and educational organizations. Educational leaders have trusted Tom DeLapp to be their communication strategist on everything from the Columbine High School tragedy to asbestos health scares.
